why is it important to simplify radical expressions before adding or subtracting?

Hello everyone . I am a student in the Algebra 1. I like algebra very much since I was little . Unfortunately I have come to a point where I can no longer solve my algebra tasks on my own . I had a algebra tutor , who helped me for a while with my homework, but I had to pay so much that I had to tell him not to come anymore. Today we studied something new: why is it important to simplify radical expressions before adding or subtracting?, and when I came home from school I realized that I can't do my algebra homework, and that freaked me out . I also still don't understand equivalent fractions and decimals. What should I do now? I love math and I don't want to have bad grades.

Algebrator is used by almost every student in our class. Most of the students in my class work part-time. Our teacher introduced this program to us and we all have been using it since then.

I remember having often faced problems with difference of squares, evaluating formulas and perpendicular lines. A truly great piece of math program is Algebrator software. By simply typing in a problem from workbook a step by step solution would appear by a click on Solve. I have used it through many algebra classes – Remedial Algebra, Pre Algebra and Pre Algebra. I greatly recommend the program.
